● rain
“阵雨”：rain shower
“小雨”：light rain
“大雨”：heave rain
“倾盆大雨”：pouring rain
比如：
It is a light rain outside.
外面下着小雨
“外面倾盆大雨”还可以直接说：It is pouring outside.
如果是“毛毛细雨”可以说：drizzle. 既可作名词，也可作动词。
比如：
(作名词) It is a drizzle outside.
(作动词) It is drizzling outside.
外面下着毛毛细雨。
在口语中，我们还会用：rain or shine 来表示“风雨无阻”
比如：
I’ll attend the meeting, rain or shine.
我一定会出席会议的，风雨无阻
再比如：
I’ll be there, rain or shine.
我一定会去的，风雨无阻
● ice-cold 极其冷的
像冰一样冷，可以说是extremely cold了。
比如：
ice-cold weather 冰冷的天气
● the heat
我们知道 “heat” 有“加热”“热量”的意思，而 “the heat” 可以表示“酷暑，炎热的天气”
比如：
The heat made me sweat a lot.
炎热的天气让我出了很多汗
●ice-skating rink
ice-skating 是“滑冰”，ice-skating rink 是指 滑真冰的“滑冰场”。
如果不强调真冰，skating rink也可以表示“旱冰场”。
●chill
chill作名词是“寒冷、寒气”
比如：
There is a slight chill in the air.
空气中有一丝寒意
另外，“take the chill off” 可以表示“驱散寒气”
比如：
Turn on the heater to take the chill off the house.
把暖气打开驱散屋里的寒气
● build snowmen 堆雪人
snowy day，除了build a snowman, 当然少不了跟朋友一起……舔铁，sorry, 打雪仗，Hahaha.
“打雪仗”可以说：have a snowball fight.
另外，我们常说的“滚雪球效应”就可以是：snowball effect
● fireside 炉边
“壁炉”：fireplace
比如：
A cat is dozing by the fireside.
一只猫在炉边打盹儿。
